Windows 1.0
In 1985, Microsoft first graphic user interface support released in 1983. It was just extension of DOS and an improvement over DOS.
Windows 2.0
Released in 1987 and improved graphic interface. Icons used to present the programs and files. users had control over screen layout and could run multiple task.
Windows 3.0 – 3.1
Windows 3.0 became the most successful version of Microsoft history. Released in (1990-1992),

Windows 98 SE
In 1998 an update version of Windows 98 improved home multimedia experience, internet browsing and introduced internet connection sharing. It allowed NAT server.
Windows 2000
In 2000, It had four version - Professional, server, advanced server and datacenter server.
Windows XP
Released in 2001, included new features such as Remote desktop for hosting remote session, Encrypting file system, The ability to join the domain. It was most widely used operating before windows 7.
Windows Vista
Released in 2007, updated graphical user interface. It had more editions according to usage (home basic, home premium, ultimate, business and enterprise)
Windows 7
Windows 7 is the successor to earlier windows released in 2009. look-wise it is same to windows vista but offers better performance and reliability and more efficiency to manage file. It can run programs faster.
Windows 8 and 8.1
Microsoft's first tried to combine the desktop PC and smartphone\tablet operating system into one OS Released in 2012. It has changed the start menu style that is a big change in Windows 8 operating. This was not so popular due to big changes in user interface, GUI updates.system.
Windows 10
Windows 8 was not successful. Windows 10 came with some of the look and feel that we loved in windows 7 but also bring tablet feel. that windows 8 had. Start menu'style has changed into Live Tiles.
